NOTERING: Sötaktiga toner med inslag av sherry, äpple och kola härlig rök. Ojojoj, detta är så jäkla bra!!
Official notes: “The rather assertive nose combined toffee popcorn, fudge, raisins, prunes, pecan pie and blackstrap molasses with liquorice root, creosote, aniseed, brown sauce, old wood and compost. The palate encompassed over-done crackling, spiced sausage, smoked duck, treacle toffee, orange, chipotle chillies and coke clinker – sweet and savoury, with an industrial edge. In reduction, the nose suggested an immaculately kept engine room and the engineer’s lunch-box containing blackcurrant drink, cheese and onion sandwiches, orange, dates and maybe a toffee apple. The reduced palate had walnut whip sweetness – enough to carry the smoke and the industry. The distillery was officially founded in 1815”.
NOTERING: Inslag av kanel tillsammans med lite krydda och citrus.
Official notes: “The nose suggested fermenting beer – still life on the lid of a washback –green apples, a pear, a peach, somelemon puffs, a stone bowl containing sweet pipe tobacco and a bunch of fresh spring flowers. Pears again on the palate (riper now), also some fizzy fruit (sherbet lemons), more flowers (this time from high summer) and definite peppery spice (‘poire et poivre’). The second nosing had mild liquorice (sherbet dib-dabs) tobacco leaf and pear and nettle sorbet. The reduced palate gave light, pleasant flavours of bergamot and floral perfumes; a mild tingly finish. From Falkirk’s sadly now defunct distillery.”.
NOTERING: Lite oljig karaktär, smak av äpple och kola
Official notes: “The initial nose reminded us of freshly harvested barley on a sunny autumn day, as well as the smell of hot leather seats in a Morris Minor. Give this dram time as waxy and woody aromas develop turning into burnt toffee and toffee apples. The taste neat was a big sweet surprise, apple crumble with toffee sauce and toffee ice cream. One panel member just smiled and said ’Lovely’!! Be carful adding water, the nose then gave the impression of soft leather gloves, mild pipe tobacco, vanilla ice-cream and Liquorice Allsorts. In the taste, wonderfully gentle and elegant with a light spicy aniseed finish. The distillery name means black rock in Gaelic”.
Official notes: “The initial nose gave coal sacks, beach barbecue wood smoke, ash, Germolene, raisins, toffee and toasted nuts – before turning Oriental (curry plant leaves, lemongrass, coconut, cinnamon). The beach factor increased with water – freshly painted boats, beach huts, rock-pools, shells, dunes, seared scallops and smoked bacon in mussel chowder. The palate was very sweet – coconut, candy, sweet tobacco and langoustines, balanced nicely by cigars and smoke from a driftwood fire. The reduced palate was softer – now a rich, creamy, texture with savoury flavours of lobster and brown bread with moules marinières. The distillery was established in 1815 by the Johnston brothers’.
NOTERING: Underbar smak av citrus, tobak, sötma, grillkorv, söt
Official notes: Creosote, Coal Tar soup, plaster of Paris, smouldering pine needles. And with water, a fire drowned by a down-pour. Very sweet, very smoky, with chillies at full strength and burnt sugar with water’.
